This elective course is a subsequent extension of the continuum mechanical basics taught in the core course C1. The major objective is to discuss the thermodynamical principles of continuum mechanics in order to provide an admissible constitutive framework for the theory of materials. Therefore, in extension to C1, the content is split into three parts: (III)
Thermodynamics, (IV) Introduction to Materials Theory and (V) Fluid-Saturated Porous Solid Materials. In particular, part (III) treats the thermodynamical balances and potentials and part (IV) is concerned with the theoretical description of distinct material properties including thermoelasticity, viscoelasticity and elasto-plasticity. Finally, in part (V), the basic idea of the continuummechanical treatment of fluid-saturated porous materials is presented.
