Special Scholarships

Two special scholarships for COMMAS students are granted by Hilti, a company with strong research and development activities related to Computational Mechanics. For the batch of 2000 two scholarships were granted by the "Vereinigung von Freunden der Universität Stuttgart" with the support of the Robert Bosch GmbH. Another two scholarships were directly issued by the Adolf Würth GmbH & Co. KG.

Friedrich-Ebert-Foundation
The Friedrich-Ebert-Foundation supports foreign students and graduates of all disciplines in Germany. It awards extensible one-year scholarships for students up to their first German degree and for graduates up to their doctorate. Requirements are particular qualifications in the respective academic field (e.g. through above-average school or study achievements), a commitment to social policy issues, personality.

Friedrich-Naumann-Foundation
Supports programmes for talented students. In order to qualify for selection, applicants must have high academic talent, character qualities as well as fundamental liberal commitment to political and social issues. Support is initially awarded for one year, in case of concentrated studies up to a total of three years.

Hanns-Seidel-Foundation
The Hanns-Seidel-Foundation supports foreign graduates. In addition to  the scholarships, which are, as a rule, awarded for two years, scholarship holders can also attend a study preparation language course.

Catholic Service for Foreign Students (KAAD)
The KAAD awards up to three-year scholarships to young graduates from countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America and Eastern Europe. The Support is on disciplines importent to these countries. Conditions are above average qualification for the study project, sufficient proficiency in German, personal and character integrity, willingness and ability to actively support the basic objectives and commitment to return home after completing the degree. Applicants are proposed by KAAD partners
organisations in the home country.

Ecumenical Scholarship Programme
The Ecumenical Scholarship Programme (ESP) enables students from developing countries to engage in postgraduate studies. The scholarship includes an opportunity for students to attend language courses to prepare their studies. The support is exclusively granted within a framework of agreements reached with foreign partner institutions. Students who are already in Germany cannot be considered for this programme.
